Netanyahu announces that Israel and Saudi Arabia are close to “historic peace.”

Israel and Saudi Arabia are close to “a historic peace,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the United Nations, arguing that Palestinians have no veto power over Arab countries in relations with Tel Aviv.

Recalling the 2020 normalization of relations with three Arab countries, which he described as “the beginning of a new era”, he estimated that we are close to “an even more spectacular progress, a historic peace between Israel and ‘Saudi Arabia’ are.

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also recently assured in an interview with North American television Fow News that the Sunni monarchy and the Hebrew state were “closer every day” to normalizing their relations.

“Such peace would go a long way toward ending the Israeli-Arab conflict, it would encourage other Arab countries to normalize their relations with Israel, it would increase the chances for peace with the Palestinians”said Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I believe that we should not give the Palestinians a veto on new peace treaties with Arab states”he stood on it. “Palestinians could benefit enormously from a broader peace. They must participate in this process”said the Israeli Prime Minister.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned on Thursday that there could be no peace in the Near and Middle East without taking into account the “legitimate rights” of his people, meaning the implementation of a two-state solution.

Israeli settler violence has displaced more than 1,100 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since 2022, according to a UN report released Thursday. Authorities describe an exodus with no recent parallel.

The report reported three settler-related incidents per day in the West Bank – the highest daily average since the United Nations began documenting the trend in 2006.

The violence has completely emptied five Palestinian communities, reduced the population of six others by half and that of seven places by a quarter, the report said.

As Israeli settlements expand under Benjamin Netanyahu’s ultranationalist-backed government, Palestinians say violence by radical Israeli settlers has soared.
