Ukraine said on Saturday that dozens of people, including senior Russian navy commanders, were killed or injured in a missile attack on Moscow’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters in the Crimean port of Sevastopol.
Ukraine struck its headquarters on Friday, causing a massive fire. “Details of the attack will be announced as soon as possible and it has resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, including senior fleet commanders,” the Ukrainian military said.
The attack took place during “a meeting of the leadership of the Russian Navy”.
Ukrainian military leader Kyrylo Budanov said the attack killed “at least nine people”, including generals.
This information has not yet been verified by independent sources.
Kyrylo Budanov declined to say whether Western-made missiles were used in the attack. Russia said one of its soldiers went missing after the attack.
