Zoleka Mandela, granddaughter of historic South African leader Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, died Monday night in hospital at the age of 43, a victim of cancer, it was announced this Monday. Tuesday- the family in a statement.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation mourned the death of Mandela and Winnie’s “beloved granddaughter”, highlighting her work raising awareness about cancer prevention.
