International mega-operation to combat drug trafficking culminates with the arrest of 197 suspects

The Judicial Police participated, together with EUROPOL, in a mega-operation to combat drug trafficking that culminated in the arrest of 197 alleged members of criminal organizations of 34 nationalities.

According to a statement sent to the editors, 29 investigations were carried out, funded by various EU financial support mechanisms and Europol funds, which targeted a series of criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud and corruption, among other crimes.

Among those detained are 33 fugitives and six high-level members of criminal networks.

114 house searches were carried out, resulting in the seizure of almost five tons of cocaine, more than two tons of cannabis, 1.7 tons of heroin, 28 firearms, 57 vehicles, more than four million euros in cash, properties with an estimated value of about 12 million euros and nearly 10 million euros in frozen bank accounts.

These “criminal networks pose a serious threat to the security of citizens in all EU Member States,” says the Judicial Police in a statement.

The investigations were carried out by the Spanish National Police in direct collaboration and with the support and participation of the security forces and bodies of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Slovenia. , Bulgaria. , Poland, Romania and Serbia.
