A Russian attack on the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, near the border with Russia, killed a 10-year-old boy on Friday morning, local authorities said.
“A 10-year-old boy was found under the rubble. Unfortunately, the child died,” the head of the military government of the Kharkov region, Oleg Siniegubov, wrote on the messaging platform Telegram.
Sixteen people were also injured in the attack and authorities said emergency services are continuing to provide assistance on the ground.

However, Ukraine today claimed to have shot down 25 of 33 attack drones launched by Russia, which carried out daily nightly bombardments on the neighboring country.
Anti-aircraft guns destroyed “25 [‘drones’] ‘Shahed’ 131/136, in the Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kharkov, Dnipro, Cherkassy and Jytomyr regions,” the Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram.
