UN says Nobel Peace Prize for Narges Mohammadi “shows the courage of women in Iran”

Narges Mohammadi, who is serving a 16-year prison sentence in Tehran’s Evin prison complex, also received the UNESCO Guillermo Cano Prize for Press Freedom this year and won the Reporters Without Borders Award for Courage (RSF) in 2022.

The Iranian activist has worked for several publications for many years and is also deputy director of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Center for Human Rights Defenders in Tehran.
