The Metropolitan Police increased patrols in some areas of the British capital after “a series of incidents” related to the conflict between Israel and Gaza, according to the AFP agency reported this Sunday.
According to the French news agency, which cites a statement from the London police, the authorities decided to increase their presence on the streets to “guarantee a visible presence and reassure communities.”
“We are aware of a number of incidents, including those shared on social media, related to the ongoing conflict in Israel and the Gaza border,” the Metropolitan Police said.
London police said they were in contact with community leaders “to listen to any concerns.”
“Anyone engaging in threatening behavior or concerned for their safety is invited to contact the police,” the text reads.
The AFP also reports that Immigration Secretary Robert Jenrick shared a video on the social network X (formerly Twitter) showing people waving Palestinian flags in the street and honking car horns.
These disgusting people are glorifying the terrorist activities of Hamas, a banned organization.
There is no place for this in the UK.
I trust @metpoliceuk We will take this seriously. https://t.co/6iogKhg9sv

The government official said these people “are glorifying the terrorist activities of Hamas, a banned organisation. There is no place for this in the UK.”
The Islamic group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli territory this Saturday, called Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen by land, sea and air.
More than 300 Israeli citizens were killed in the Hamas offensive, while around 1,600 were injured, according to Israeli media, citing medical sources.
On the Palestinian side, at least 232 people were killed and 1,700 injured, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, a territory controlled by Hamas since 2007.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war” with Hamas.
