Tel Aviv asks Egypt to intervene to free Israelis kidnapped by Hamas

Israel has asked Egypt, the main mediator between the Palestinians and the Jewish State, for help in negotiating the release of the kidnapped Israelis as one of the conditions for ending the conflict, security sources told EFE on Sunday .

Egypt has been in contact with the Israeli and Palestinian parties since Saturday evening, as well as with mediators in Washington, Amman, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, to stop the current escalation, return to the negotiating table and listen to the terms of both sides. This is evident from sources interviewed by the Efe agency, who requested anonymity.

The main conditions are “stopping Palestinian attacks and handing over all kidnapped Israelis and the bodies of Israelis held by Hamas,” the sources said, confirming information reported by the Wall Street Journal.

They also noted that the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah informed Egypt that it would launch an attack on Israeli territory, which happened this morning.

This action caused the Israeli army to bomb southern Lebanon, injuring two children.

The Israeli military confirmed that some bodies of Israeli soldiers and civilians in Gaza had been kidnapped by militants, while an unknown number of hostages were released in areas taken over by Islamists in Israel.

Following the surprise attack by Hamas – a group considered terrorist by Israel, the United States and the European Union – on Saturday morning, the firefight continues today, with numerous rockets launched from the Gaza Strip and Israeli bombardments on 426 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip . Palestinian enclave.
