Israeli army says it killed ‘armed suspects’ from Lebanon

The Israeli Army claimed responsibility this Monday for the death of “several armed suspects” who had infiltrated Israel from Lebanon.

Previously, military officials had reported that “several suspects entered Israeli territory from Lebanon” and that military forces were present in the area. “Combat helicopters are carrying out attacks in this area,” the army added.

A local Lebanese official told the AFP news agency that Israel had bombed the area around a border town in southern Lebanon.

On Sunday, Lebanese Hezbollah, an ally of Palestinian Hamas and Iran, fired a projectile over a disputed sector of the border, prompting an Israeli drone attack on one of its positions in the southern Lebanese border area.

Hezbollah has already denied any involvement in the infiltration announced today by the IDF, the Armed Forces of the Jewish State.

“Information about a confrontation between members of the resistance [em Israel] and the Israeli enemy or the alleged infiltration are unfounded,” declared the press office of the powerful Lebanese Shiite formation.

The Islamic group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli territory this Saturday, called Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen by land, sea and air.

In response to the surprise attack, Israel bombed several Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip from the air, in an operation it called “Iron Swords.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war” with Hamas.

The most recent report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health records at least 560 deaths due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza – among them dozens of minors and women – which raises the total number of deaths on both sides of the armed clashes that began on Saturday. .

In the last few hours, two towers in Gaza City have been attacked, accounting for at least 123,000 internally displaced people in an enclave of two million inhabitants, while Israel also imposes a total blockade on the supply of fuel, food and electricity to the Gaza Strip. Loop.

These victims were added to the more than 700 deaths in the latest report from the Israeli Ministry of Health, published on Sunday.

The high number of deaths confirmed in just over 24 hours is unprecedented in the history of Israel, comparable only to the bloody first Arab-Israeli war of 1948, after the founding of the State of Israel.
