Hamas rockets injure seven people in Jerusalem area

The Islamist organization Hamas launched several rockets from Gaza on Monday, causing seven injuries in the Jerusalem region, three of them seriously, according to a team from Magen David Adom, the equivalent of the Red Cross in Israel.

In total, four injuries were reported in the area of ​​Beitar Illit, an Israeli settlement in the western part of the occupied West Bank, about ten kilometers from Jerusalem, where the most serious cases receive treatment in a hospital.

The Israeli medical organization Hatzalah confirmed that its volunteers treated seven people injured after three direct rocket hits on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

The Islamic group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli territory this Saturday, called Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen by land, sea and air.

In response to the surprise attack, Israel bombed several Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip from the air, in an operation it called “Iron Swords.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel is “at war” with Hamas.

The most recent report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health records at least 560 deaths due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza – including dozens of minors and women – which raises the total number of deaths on both sides of the armed clashes that have taken place. They started on Saturday. of 1,250.

According to official Palestinian sources, in the last few hours the Jabaliya Palestinian refugee camp was bombed, causing an undetermined number of victims, accounting for at least 123,000 internally displaced people in an enclave with two million inhabitants.

Israel also imposed a complete blockade on the supply of fuel, food and electricity to the Gaza Strip.

These victims were added to the more than 700 deaths in the latest report from the Israeli Ministry of Health, published on Sunday.

The high number of deaths confirmed in just over 24 hours is unprecedented in the history of Israel, comparable only to the bloody first Arab-Israeli war of 1948, after the founding of the State of Israel.
