The European Commission clarified this Monday that there will be an in-depth review of the financial aid provided to Palestine, not including the suspension of humanitarian aid to the population, but payments may be modified depending on the assessment made.
“The Commission unequivocally condemns the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas against Israel over the weekend. Following these events, the Commission will launch today [segunda-feira] an urgent review of European Union aid [UE] for Palestine,” states a statement issued early this Monday afternoon.
The European Commission clarified that, “with appropriate safeguards, the aim of this review is to ensure that the EU is not directly or indirectly financing any terrorist organization to carry out attacks against Israel.”
Brussels added that the review “does not concern humanitarian assistance provided by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.”
