Three people, including a child, died on Thursday after debris from a downed drone crashed and destroyed residential buildings in Russia’s Belgorod region, local authorities said.
“The air defense system in Belgorod district shot down an aircraft-type drone approaching the city,” the regional governor said. Vyacheslav Gladkovm on the messaging platform Telegram.
The responsible person wrote in another message that after the “collapse of rubble on the outskirts of Belgorod, two residential buildings were (completely) destroyed” and several others were damaged.
“Three people were killed, one of them a child,” noted the governor of the region, which borders Ukraine.
Two other people, who are injured and in critical condition, are hospitalized, Gladkov added.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated, also via Telegram, that the country’s defense prevented a drone attack in Kiev in the region on Wednesday around 11:50 PM (9:50 PM in Lisbon), without, however, reporting any possible injuries. or damage.
Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory have increased in recent months, as part of a counter-offensive that Ukraine launched in early June.
On Tuesday, a Ukrainian attack killed two civilians, also in the Belgorod region, Gladkov said.
