US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expresses his “unconditional” support for Israel, including the shipment of war material, and stated that US support is aimed at preventing the conflict from spreading throughout the region.
“No one should try to take advantage of this vile attack by Hamas to provoke more bloodshed or instability,” warned the Secretary of Defense this Thursday in Brussels, underlining that “US support for Israel is very solid.”
“We are working urgently to give Israel what it needs to defend itself, including munitions and missile interceptors, and we will do so while continuing to support the people of Ukraine in their fight against Russian aggression,” Austin announced.
As calls grow for a proportionate response from Israel that spares civilian lives, the US Secretary of Defense says he hopes Israel will act correctly.
“We have not imposed any conditions on the supply of this equipment. This is a professional army led by professional leaders, and we expect them to do the right thing in carrying out their campaign,” he said.
Lloyd Austin stated that investigations are still ongoing, but for now he says he has no information that points to Iran’s involvement in the Hamas attack.
“We also know that Iran has a long history of supporting Hamas, so there is a relationship that extends over years. But in terms of their active participation in the planning and execution of this attack, we have not yet seen “There is no evidence of this.” stated the North American Secretary of Defense, adding, however, that the collection of this data continues to be “the focus” of the United States.
