The European Commission announced on Thursday that it is investigating whether social network X complies with European legislation on digital services, after receiving “indications” of “alleged distribution of illegal content”.
It concerns “the dissemination of terrorist and violent content and incitement to hatred”.
On the same social network, Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, wrote: “The Digital Services Act [DSA, na sigla em Inglês] is here to protect both our freedom of expression and our democracies, even in times of crisis. We have sent X a formal request for information, a first step in our investigation to determine their compliance with the DSA.”

The social media conglomerate led by Elon Musk must respond by October 18 regarding the operation of its crisis response protocol, and by October 31 to other questions raised by Brussels.
