The Israeli army announced this Friday that, in the last 24 hours, it carried out several ground incursions into the Gaza Strip, controlled since 2007 by the Islamist movement Hamas.
The announcement of the raids comes as the Israeli military is expected to begin a vast ground offensive in the densely populated Palestinian territory.
“In the last 24 hours, Israeli military forces carried out localized raids within the territory of the Gaza Strip” to search for “terrorists” and “weapons,” the army said in a statement.
Efforts were also made during the operations “to find missing persons,” the army added.
