This Monday, Israel increased the number of people captured by the Islamist group Hamas during the October 7 attack to 199, 44 more than the previous count.
“We have informed the families of the 199 hostages,” said the spokesman for the Israeli armed forces, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, in a press conference cited by the French agency AFP.
Hagari did not specify whether the number of hostages included foreigners, nor did he say who is holding them, but the majority are believed to be held by Hamas, which rules Gaza.
An earlier report, published on Sunday, put the number of hostages at 155.
