The American president, Joe Biden, stated this Wednesday in Tel Aviv, together with the Israeli prime minister, that the explosion in a Gaza hospital that caused hundreds of deaths was the responsibility of Palestinian groups.
“From what I saw, it looks like the other party did it, not you,” Biden said at a joint news conference with Benjamin Netanyahu, shortly after arriving in Israel.
Biden said there were many people who were not sure what caused the explosion at Al Ahli Anglican Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
The explosion killed between 200 people, according to Israel, and 500 people, according to Hamas and other Palestinian sources, which accused Israel of bombing the hospital.
Israel denied responsibility for the attack and attributed the explosion to a missed shot by the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, which returned the accusation to the Israeli army.
