Friday is a day of prayer in the West Bank. In Ramallah, near the prayer center in the city’s main square, which is also the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority, in the late morning (at 10 a.m. in mainland Portugal) preparations for a protest begin to be felt.

The nearest mosque is a few hundred meters away. The wind was not blowing and, therefore, the muezzins were not heard making the call to prayer, but they were punctual. At 12:00 o’clock these calls to prayer began and, as if it were a choreography, groups of men, very well organized, began to appear toward this mosque.
Large protests usually begin on Friday in the square and the police take positions. There are international television journalists who have already placed cameras inside Praça dos Leões, which has a metal fence and is the safest place to work.
After the prayers, thousands of people gradually joined the majority in Praça dos Leões.

There are many women and children, something that is not seen in most demonstrations. The women continue at the end of the parade, in the last row of protesters, while children are seen everywhere.
It is not dangerous to bring children to a protest like this, says a woman TSF. On the contrary, he says, they have to learn to know and feel the place where they live.

Protesters shout slogans and wave flags. Others wear green bands tied to their heads. After several laps around Praça dos Leões, the protest continues along one of the side streets. If it happens like other Fridays, he will head to a nearby Israeli settlement, protected by the Israeli army.
