Russia again attacked energy infrastructure in Ukraine on Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed, quoted by Agence France-Presse.
The Russian military “continues to carry out massive attacks, with long-range and high-precision weapons, against Ukraine’s military infrastructure and energy system,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that “all objectives have been achieved.”
The governor of the Lviv region, Maksym Kozytski, confirmed on the Telegram social network that two energy infrastructures suffered three explosions on Tuesday.
The mayor of the regional capital of Lviv, Andrii Sadovy, added that the missiles hit “critical infrastructure”, leaving 30% of the city without electricity.
The official called on residents to collect water reserves due to interruptions in supply in two neighborhoods, a problem that could spread to the rest of the city.
On Monday, Russian shelling hit mainly Ukraine’s power plants, leaving more than 300 towns in kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Sumi, Kharkiv and Jytomyr regions without power.
The electrical operator that supplies energy to the capital, DTEK, said that “starting Tuesday” there will be regular cuts due to power outages.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that 11 major infrastructures had been damaged in eight regions apart from the capital.
Monday’s attacks left 19 dead and more than a hundred wounded.
