Seventy percent of Gaza’s population has been displaced and half of their homes partially or completely destroyed by Israeli bombing, after 16 days of war between Israel and the Islamic extremist group Hamas.
According to the Gaza government news agency, the number of displaced people amounts to 1.4 million people, out of a total of 2.3 million, and about half of these people are sheltered in 217 shelters, while the rest are welcomed by relatives, friends or acquaintances. .
Since the start of the war, 4,651 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza as a result of indiscriminate Israeli bombing, including 1,873 children, 1,023 women and 187 elderly people, and 14,245 injured, according to the latest count from the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health.

About 164,000 houses were “partially or completely damaged” and 5,635 residential buildings were “completely demolished,” the Gaza government said. A total of 67 government buildings, dozens of public facilities and public facilities that constitute civilian infrastructure were also destroyed or seriously damaged.
In addition, 176 schools were damaged by the attacks, 30 of which are out of service.
In recent days, the Israeli army has attacked more than 15 “vital areas with civilian presence,” including the “line areas,” where “dozens of people were killed and hundreds injured,” Gaza government spokesman Salama Maarouf said.
Meanwhile, an Israeli military spokesman said today that the army is focusing on accelerating the pace of attacks “against dozens of terrorist targets” and high-ranking Palestinian militiamen.
Dozens of militia members have been killed in recent hours, including two Nukhba operatives, the elite Hamas forces that carried out the attack on Israel on October 7, the spokesman said.
The deputy commander of Hamas’s rocket launching force, Mohamed Qatmash, was also killed overnight.
Since the start of the war more than two weeks ago, more than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, at least 210 have been kidnapped and a hundred are missing.
