Eight Syrian soldiers were killed and seven wounded in Israeli attacks on Syrian army positions in the south of the country, Syrian state media reported on Wednesday.

At least two projectiles were launched Tuesday from the southern Syrian province of Deraa toward Israel, which responded with artillery fire, in the third such incident since the start of the war in Gaza, multiple sources reported.
“Two Syrian launches were identified against Israeli territory, which landed in open locations. The Israel Defense Forces responded with artillery fire against the origin of the launch,” the Israeli military said, without offering further details.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), a non-governmental organization based in the United Kingdom and a wide network of sources on the ground, indicated that the launch was carried out from the Deraa region and attributed the action to “loyal fighters.” to the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah.
Both Hezbollah and other armed groups supported by Iran are present in Syrian territory and are allies of the Government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, with Israel considering their presence in that neighboring country a threat to Israeli security.
The Shiite movement is already involved in intense cross-border attacks with Israel from southern Lebanon.
This is the third attack of this type carried out from Syria since the start of the war between Israel and fighters of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, after others carried out from Deraa and the neighboring province of Quneitra on October 14 and 10 , respectively.
The Hebrew State responded to the latest projectiles, on the 14th, by firing missiles at the international airport of Aleppo, in northwest Syria.
Since the Gaza war broke out more than two weeks ago, Israeli military aviation has also carried out two other simultaneous attacks on that airport and Damascus, leaving them temporarily out of service due to damage suffered.
Israel attacks Syrian territory relatively frequently, most often with missiles fired from the air, aimed at Hezbollah and other pro-Iran militias.
