The Islamist movement Hamas reported this Friday that it was involved in “violent clashes” in the Gaza Strip with Israeli forces, which had carried out ground incursions in two sectors of the territory.
“We are facing Israeli incursions in Beit Hanoun (north) and Boureij (center) and there are violent clashes,” said Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam brigades, in a statement.
Israeli Army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced this Friday that the military will expand ground operations in the Gaza Strip starting today, in parallel with the bombing of the enclave.
“As a continuation of the offensive activity we have carried out in recent days, the ground forces will expand their activity this afternoon,” the spokesman said.
The United Nations (UN) General Assembly approved this Friday, with 120 votes in favor, a resolution calling for an “immediate, lasting and sustained humanitarian truce” in Gaza and the end of Israel’s order to displace the population.
