Four Palestinians killed in Israeli attack in northern West Bank

This Monday, Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in an attack on the Jenin refugee camp, in the north of the occupied West Bank, an area where 118 Palestinians have died since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.

The victims of the “occupation bullets” are between 23 and 28 years old, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

According to Palestinian media, one of the dead, Weam Hanoun, was a leader of the Islamic Jihad and founder of the Jenin Brigade, an armed group that brings together all the militias present in the camp, formed a little over a year ago and which has been gaining strength.

The Jenin refugee camp is one of the strongholds of the Palestinian militia movement and, for Israel, “the biggest focus of terror” in the West Bank, where it carried out a three-day ground and air military offensive in July.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that 100 military vehicles entered the city, along with armored bulldozers, and that an Israeli drone carried out an airstrike during the fighting.

The Al Qasam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, indicated that they were fighting against the entry of Israeli forces into the city, in particular by planting explosive devices.

The Israeli army has not yet commented on this operation.

The occupied West Bank and Israel are experiencing the largest spiral of violence since the Second Intifada (2000-2005). This year alone, 320 Palestinians have died, mostly militants in armed clashes with Israeli troops and attackers, but also civilians, including 72 minors.
