Netanyahu considers the video of hostages released by Hamas to be “cruel psychological propaganda”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned this Monday as “cruel psychological propaganda” a video released by the Islamist movement Hamas with three women taken hostage on the 7th of this month in Israel.

“My thoughts are with Yelena Trupanov, Danielle Aloni and Rimon Kirsht, kidnapped by Hamas, which is committing war crimes. […] “Our hearts are with you and with all the other kidnapped people,” Netanyahu added in a statement.

This Monday, Hamas released a video with three women presented as Israeli hostages who have been in the Gaza Strip since the attack by the Palestinian Islamist group on Israel on October 7, in which 1,400 people were murdered, most of them civilians, and More than 200 people were kidnapped.

In this 76-second video broadcast by Hamas media with the title “several Zionist detainees send a message to [primeiro-ministro israelita, Benjamin] Netanyahu and his Government”, the three women can be seen sitting on plastic chairs.

One of them, sitting in the middle, appealed in an irritated tone to the Israeli Prime Minister to conclude the prisoner exchange with the Islamist movement to obtain their release.

Addressing the head of the Israeli government, one of the women shouted in Hebrew: “Free us now, free your citizens.” [dos raptores]Release your prisoners, let’s return to our families.”

Several Israeli media outlets published a screenshot of this video on their websites, indicating that they would not broadcast it as they considered that the women’s comments were forced by Hamas.

This Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant accused Hamas of “psychological manipulation” of the hostages it is holding, after the Islamist movement said it would be willing to release them in exchange for all Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.

According to the latest assessment by Israeli authorities, at least 239 hostages kidnapped by Hamas commandos during the attack on Israeli soil on October 7 are being held in the Gaza Strip.

This attack, on an unprecedented scale, sparked a war that has left thousands dead on both sides.
