Twenty-eight people were injured, four of them in serious condition, after two roller coaster rides collided at the Happy Valley amusement park in Shenzhen, southeast China.

The accident occurred over the weekend, when one of the carriages, with 22 passengers on board, broke down and rolled backwards on the line until it collided with another carriage, which was stopped with nine people on board, according to a statement which was released today by local authorities. .
The injured were taken to three nearby hospitals for observation or treatment. Four have head injuries or pelvic fractures, but according to local press their condition is stable.
Authorities ordered the temporary closure of the park and opened an investigation to determine the causes and responsibility for the accident.
The Happy Valley theme park is one of the most popular in Shenzhen, one of the largest and most prosperous cities in China, located next to the semi-autonomous region of Hong Kong.
