The US president said he believed he could beat his predecessor Donald Trump in an election again, reiterating that he had not yet made a final decision on a possible 2024 presidential bid.
“I think I can beat Donald Trump again,” Joe Biden said in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.
Biden said that after the US congressional elections in November, he will enter “a decision-making process” by 2024.
As for age, the oldest president ever elected in the United States, who turns 80 this year, Biden defended himself: “The question is, ‘can you do the job?’ I think I can do the job.”
“Tell me a president, in recent history [dos Estados Unidos]who did as much as I did in the first two years,” added Biden, whose popularity has risen slightly in recent months, according to recent polls.
Donald Trump has stated, on several occasions, his intention to run again as a candidate for the Republican Party, despite the problems that the former president has had with the US justice system.
