Ukraine’s head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, invited former US President Donald Trump to visit the country and experience the war with Russia up close, despite believing he “cannot resolve” the conflict.
The statements were made in an interview with NBC, which aired on Sunday on the North American channel, in which Zelensky responded to Donald Trump who declared in May that he could end the war against Russia within 24 hours.
“Former President Trump said he could manage and end the war in 24 hours. What can I say about that? I extend a warm welcome to him,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Instead of 24 hours, the Ukrainian president added, 24 minutes would be enough to explain to Trump that he “cannot solve this war as easily” as he thinks.
Zelensky believed that even if Trump tried, peace would not be possible at this time due to the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In May, Donald Trump, who was running for president of the United States, stated that he could resolve the war in Ukraine in one day if elected, stating that the negotiation process would be “very easy.”
The current President of the United States, Joe Biden, visited Kiev in February, a year after the start of the Russian invasion.
