Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday announced “the destruction” of the “Askold”, a key Russian ship in the Kerch Strait in Crimea, two days after his army said it had bombed that area.
“I thank everyone who contributed to the destruction of the Russian ship in the Kerch Strait”on Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia, Zelensky stated in his daily speech published on social media.
Last night Russia hit Odesa again with missiles and ‘Shahed’ drones. Some were shot, but others reached their target. Odesa had a rough night.

Russian authorities in turn indicated that the ship had been damaged by Ukrainian fire, causing the wreckage to land on a quay.
This Monday, Kiev accused Moscow of launching four missiles and an attack drone from Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories in the south of the country.
In recent days, Ukraine admitted that the counter-offensive launched in June had failed and that the country was able to recapture only a few cities.
On the other hand, Zelensky this Monday closed the doors to any elections in the country. “We must decide that now is the time for defense, for the struggle on which the fate of the state and the people depends, and not for the farce that only Russia expects from Ukraine. I don’t think this is the time for elections,” he declared in his daily speech. The parliamentary elections would take place in October this year and the presidential elections in March 2024.
