An Estonian hotel receptionist was severely burned with a blowtorch in the center of Lausanne, Switzerland, on Wednesday by a German citizen, police said.

The perpetrator, a 44-year-old German citizen, was arrested a few minutes later in the center of Lausanne, in possession of the equipment used to commit his act.

An investigation is underway to determine the course and causes of this attack. According to testimonies collected by the Swiss media, the aggressor had been expelled from the hotel the day before.

“She was removed from our establishment,” hotel manager Eric Fassbind told the local 24 Hours newspaper.

“And to think that we had reported him several times to the police! On Tuesday, we even took a picture of him,” he added.

According to testimonies, the German used to sneak into hotels in Lausanne.
