Attack off the coast of Crimea damages Russian landing craft

Ukraine continues to weaken Russia’s military fleet in the Black Sea with an attack Thursday evening that damaged landing craft off the coast of the occupied Crimean Peninsula, Ukrainian military intelligence revealed.

In a statement published on Telegram, the services confirmed the information published recently by the Ukrainian media, which showed that the damaged boats are “Serna” boats built within the framework of Project 11770 of the Russian fleet. The bill does not state how many boats were damaged.

“The boats had crews on board and were loaded with armored vehicles, including BTR-82,” Kiev military intelligence says, explaining that Russia resorted to these “small ships” – which carried 45 tons of equipment and 92 armed soldiers could transport – to support his troops on Snake Island.

Control over the small island in the western Black Sea, very close to the coasts of Romania and Ukraine, was fundamental for Russia to dominate the Black Sea for much of the war. Ukraine’s liberation of this uninhabited island in June 2022 has eased Russian pressure in this part of the Black Sea.

According to the services, the “Serna” boats also carried Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems, allowing them to provide mobile coverage to the occupation forces against possible air attacks both on Cobras Island and in the rest of the Black Sea.

Russia, Ukrainian military intelligence added, also used these boats to disembark groups of marines and for evacuations.

According to the services, Russia currently has no maritime anti-aircraft assets after a series of Ukrainian attacks destroyed some of these Russian capabilities in the Black Sea, where Ukraine continues to target the enemy’s military fleet and has already succeeded in destroying some of its reopen ports. for commercial shipping.
