An attack on the Al Shifa hospital complex in Gaza this Friday morning caused at least 13 deaths and several injuries, reported the enclave’s Ministry of Health, which reported another bomb attack at the Al Rantisi children’s center.
This Friday morning, the health spokesman for the Gaza Strip stated that “one person was killed and several were injured in an attack targeting the maternity ward of the Al Shifa medical complex.” However, AFP, citing the same source, claims that 13 have already died.
During the night there was another “direct attack on the Al Rantisi hospital, which specializes in children” and also located in Gaza City, causing a fire.
Israel guarantees that the Hamas military center and the most important underground infrastructure are located under and around Al Shifa Hospital, where intense fighting has occurred in recent hours as Israeli troops advance towards Gaza City.
Doctors and human rights groups have denounced Israeli bombings around hospitals in recent weeks.
Many of the hospitals suffered material damage from the attacks and at least 18 of the approximately 35 hospitals are not operating due to lack of fuel.
Last week, an Israeli attack outside the Al Shifa hospital killed about 15 people.
“The attacks and bombings against hospitals (…) are criminal madness,” according to the Gaza Government’s communications office, which denounced that “health facilities have been deliberately bombed and massacres have been committed there.”
