British Home Secretary Suella Braverman was fired by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday.
The public broadcaster BBC and the Daily Telegraph newspaper say the resignations will lead to a major overhaul of the executive branch.
The resignation follows controversy over an article critical of British police published last week without the approval of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
In the article, Braverman accused police of “favoritism” for allowing a pro-Palestinian rally on Saturday, which he described as a “bunch of pro-Palestinians” and “hate protesters.”
Several politicians believed the stance contributed to the violent clashes between far-right groups and police in counter-protests against the demonstration, which resulted in 126 arrests.
However, the now former minister responded to the resignation, assuring that she “will have more to say in due course” and that it was “the greatest privilege” of her life to have been Home Secretary.
