Former Prime Minister David Cameron appointed Foreign Secretary

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron was appointed Foreign Minister this Monday, replacing James Cleverly, who moved to the Home Office, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced.

The return of David Cameron, who resigned in 2016 after the ‘Brexit’ referendum, meant his appointment to the House of Lords, since to be part of the Government it is mandatory to be part of one of the Houses of the British Parliament.

The ongoing government reorganization is due to the resignation of Suella Braverman as Minister of the Interior, initially reported by the British media, which had been the subject of rumors for several days due to the former minister’s controversial statements.

Last week, Suella Braverman published an article in The Times newspaper in which she accused the police of favoritism for allowing a pro-Palestinian demonstration on Saturday, whose participants she characterized as “hate protesters.”

The Prime Minister and other members of the Government also distanced themselves from comments last week by Braverman, who described living without shelter as a “lifestyle choice”.
