Three British Airways crew members lied about a robbery they said they were victims of in Rio Janeiro, Brazil, to cover up a night spent drinking and taking drugs.

Samantha Naylor also stated that she managed to call a taxi using her personal cell phone and they were robbed again by a man on a motorcycle, after she then requested assistance from a military police vehicle.
While Grant Wheatley reported that he was having a drink in Pedra do Sal when he met a woman. He decided to go to the toilet and, while standing in line, had a drink, and he says he can’t remember anything after that, having woken up on the street in the morning.
“The investigation shows that they did not tell the truth. They didn’t say what happened that morning. They have made up these stories to justify likely inappropriate behavior. On a video surveillance camera, Samantha Naylor and Daniel Pickeiring appear at a plastic table in Pedra Sal, where they were talking to another man who invites them to Vaz Lobo. According to a witness, the two crew members drank for hours.
Grant went to Complexo do Alemão, where he drank drugs and alcohol. He was found on the street by some construction workers who revived him and called for help. The crew member was taken to the Del Castilho Emergency Care Unit, where he admitted to using drugs with two women.
This event prompted British Airways to postpone flight BA-248, between the airports of Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro, and Heathrow, in London, until the following day. According to G1, the company denied that the crew would return to work the next day.
