The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas accuses Israel of having bombed a United Nations school in the Gaza Strip this Saturday, causing 50 deaths.

As reported to the French agency AFP by an official from the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip, the attack occurred this morning against the Al-Fakhora school, managed by the United Nations and located in the Jabalia refugee camp, in the north of the Gaza Strip. territory.

At the school, which had already been attacked earlier in the month, mattresses were placed on the school tables to house people displaced as a result of the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

United Nations-run schools in the Gaza Strip have been the target of attacks since the Islamist movement Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, with thousands of rockets and armed militiamen, leaving more than 1,200 dead and 240 hostages. .

In response, Israel declared war on Hamas, which has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007 and is classified as terrorist by the European Union and the United States.

Israel has relentlessly bombed various infrastructure in Gaza and imposed a total siege on the territory, cutting off water, fuel and electricity supplies.
