Twenty-eight premature babies who were in Al-Shifa hospital, the largest in the Gaza Strip, arrived in Egypt on Monday across the Rafah border, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
“All 28 babies are now safe in Egypt. Three other babies are now in the Emirati hospital in Gaza and continue to receive treatment. All the babies are seriously fighting infections,” says the Red Crescent, in response to Reuters, quoted by The Guardian.

This Monday morning, the Red Crescent reported, in a message shared on the social network X (formerly Twitter), that “medical teams left for Rafah with 28 premature babies.”
The children were removed from that hospital unit, which was classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “death zone.”
The Israeli military launched an attack on Al-Shifa hospital on Wednesday, claiming it housed a Hamas base.
Israel has long alleged that Hamas maintains a vast command post inside and below Al-Shifa hospital, although the Islamist movement and hospital staff deny the allegations.
The hospital in question is seen as a key target for Israel to end militant rule in Gaza, following the widespread attack on Israel’s southern territory six weeks ago that sparked the ongoing war.
