This Friday, Hamas released 13 Israeli hostages held captive since October 7, among the 240 people kidnapped by the Islamist movement in the deadly attack carried out that day.
Among these released hostages are four children and several elderly women, including one of Portuguese nationality.
But who are the hostages released by Hamas?
Adina Moshe, 72 years old
She is a descendant of Sephardic Jews from the Iberian Peninsula who recently obtained a Portuguese passport and visits Portugal regularly. She was kidnapped while at her home in Kibbutz Nir Oz after the Hamas army killed her husband, Sa’id Moshe.
Adina has four children – Maya, Yael, Sasson and Amos – and several grandchildren.
Margalit Berta Mozes, 78 years old
A cancer survivor who suffers from diabetes and fibromyalgia and takes blood pressure and thyroid medications.
According to Sky News, has a passion for nature, especially birds, and loves walking. Last summer he took a boat trip in Northern Norway and this winter he planned to travel to Mozambique.
Danielle Aloni and her five-year-old daughter Emilia
Mother and daughter were kidnapped in Nir Oz while visiting Danielle’s sister, Sharon Aloni-Cunio, who was also kidnapped along with her three-year-old twin daughters, Emma and Yuli, and their father, David Cunio.
At 11 a.m. on October 7, Danielle sent a “final message” to her family, saying that there were terrorists in the house and that she feared they would not survive.
Ruthy, Keren and Ohad Munder, 78, 54 and nine years old
Young Ohad was kidnapped along with his mother, Keren, while visiting his grandmother, Ruthy, who was also kidnapped. Ohad lived to be nine years old in captivity.
Keren is a teacher and volleyball coach.
Ruthy, on the other hand, enjoys sewing and painting.
Doron Katz Asher, 34, and daughters Aviv and Raz, ages two and four
Doron and her daughters were kidnapped while visiting family, including the girls’ grandmother.
Hanna Peri, 79 years old
A mother of three, she migrated from South Africa to Israel in the 1960s, where she works in a supermarket.
He suffers from diabetes and severe vision loss in one eye.
He enjoys gardening and taking care of his cat.
Yaffa Adar, 85 years old
He has three children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
One of her grandchildren, Tamir Adar, 38, was kidnapped with her and is believed to still be held by Hamas.
Hanna Katzir, 77 years old
The thirteenth hostage was released on Friday.
