A woman died and six other people were injured on Friday after the collapse of a supermarket building in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Greater Recife, Brazil. The commercial branch was scheduled to open on Wednesday.
The fatal victim was a supermarket employee. The injured, five men and a woman, were injured and taken to hospital.
It all happened as a result of the collapse of the roof of the commercial structure. According to the Brazilian press, authorities were called to the scene to help the victims, and police to prevent other people from stealing the products that were scattered everywhere.
The fire brigade used sniffer dogs during the search and found that there were no more victims on site.
The fire brigade’s work started shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday and ended around 1:30 p.m.
The possible causes of the collapse have not yet been revealed.
