Among the eleven hostages released by Hamas this Monday are Erez and Sahar Calderon, aged 12 and 16, children of a citizen of Portuguese nationality.
The minors are the children of Ofer Calderon, 53 years old, who obtained Portuguese nationality after being kidnapped by Hamas on October 7. He had applied for Portuguese nationality under Sephardic law in 2021 and obtained it during his captivity in Gaza in October, following an urgent request to the government.
The two children, who, like their mother Hadas Han, have French nationality, are part of the group of hostages released by Hamas today, but their father, Ofer Calderon, remains a hostage in the Gaza Strip.
