Robbie Coltrane, the Scottish actor who played Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, has died. Robbie Coltrane was 72 years old and his death was confirmed by the agent. In a statement, Belinda Wright added that the comedian died at a hospital near Falkirk, Scotland.
Although the cause of death was not revealed, Robbie Coltrane had been suffering from health problems for two years.
Describing him as a “unique talent,” the agent adds that the role of Hagrid has brought “joy” to both children and adults around the world.
“I will remember him as a loyal customer. In addition to being a wonderful actor, he was smart, brilliantly witty (…) I will miss him, ”he stressed.
Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, lamented the death of the actor whom she considers a “legend of Scottish entertainment”, praising his “reach and depth as an actor”. Of all his roles, my favorite was Fitz in Cracker (…) “, she wrote on Twitter.
