French President Emmanuel Macron this morning expressed his condolences to the family of the German who died in a knife attack in Paris on Saturday.
“I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the German citizen who died tonight. [no sábado] in the terrorist attack in Paris and my thoughts are with those who are currently injured and being treated,” Macron wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The attack, carried out on Saturday night in Paris by a French citizen born in 1997, who stabbed a young German tourist to death and injured two more people with hammer blows, will be treated as an act of terrorism, according to the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office. The terrorist has already indicated who will be in charge of the investigation.
And the French Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for murder and attempted murder.
The attacker, who shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is great”) before being arrested, had already been sentenced in 2016 to four years in prison for planning an attack, said the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, in statements to the press on site. The site of the attack occurred in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, west of the city, a few hundred meters from the Eiffel Tower.

The perpetrator, in his 20s, was already known to the police for his Islamic radicalism and also for psychiatric disorders and, according to a police source, stated that he cannot stand seeing Muslims murdered around the world.
According to the French press, the fatal victim was a tourist with dual German and Filipino nationality, stabbed in the back and shoulder on the emblematic Bir-Hakeim bridge over the Seine.
One of the injured, also according to the press, is an English tourist who was walking with his wife and son along Avenida Presidente Kennedy and who suffered blows to the head and was taken to the hospital; The other injured person is a French citizen in his sixties.
