The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, indicated this Sunday that his forces are expanding operations to the south of the Gaza Strip, an area where ground troops have not yet entered.
“We have fought hard and exhaustively in the north of the Strip and now we are doing it in the south,” declared Halevi, after the evacuation in the last hours of several neighborhoods of the city of Khan Yunis, in the south, where many inhabitants from Gaza are now heading towards the city of Rafah.
In recent hours, unverified information and images showing Israeli tanks involved in fighting in southern Gaza and northern Khan Yunis have appeared on social media.
In his daily press conference, Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed that the army is extending its ground offensive to “all areas of the Gaza Strip.”
