Israeli attacks on Gaza left at least 316 dead and 664 injured on Sunday, the Palestinian enclave’s health ministry told the United Nations on Monday, as the distribution of humanitarian aid was again restricted.
The Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health is controlled by the Islamist group Hamas, which rules the region.
Rafah province was the only province in the Gaza Strip where aid was delivered to the population in recent hours [especialmente farinha e água]but the delivery of other survival supplies destined for the Khan Younis area was interrupted due to the increase in hostilities, according to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA).
Restricted access to the northern part of the territory, which took place during the ceasefire in Gaza, where tens of thousands of civilians still live, was again interrupted.
OCHA indicated that Israeli forces on Sunday designated an area equivalent to 20% of the entire city of Khan Younis for “immediate evacuation”, despite being a region where, in addition to the 117,000 inhabitants before the start of the war, there are also 21 facilities where 50,000 displaced people from the north took refuge.
The UN noted that these tens of thousands of people are now ordered to move to three areas towards Rafah [na fronteira com o Egito]”which are already more than saturated,” the UN said.
“It is not yet clear how many people are moving to the southern areas,” acknowledges the UN, whose staff remains committed to helping the population victims of the war.
The Israeli army reiterated warnings to evacuate the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, where tens of thousands of Palestinians have moved in recent weeks, as the ground offensive intensifies.
Residents told AFP they heard airstrikes and explosions in Khan Younis on Sunday night and this morning, after the Israeli army dropped leaflets warning people to move further south towards the border with Egypt.
In a publication in Arabic that was also distributed on social media, the Israeli army again ordered the evacuation of twenty neighborhoods in Khan Younis.
Three Israeli soldiers were killed in the Gaza Strip
The war between Israel and Gaza has killed thousands of Palestinians and displaced more than three-quarters of the population of the territory inhabited by 2.3 million Palestinians.
On the other hand, Israel announced the deaths of three soldiers in the enclave, bringing the number of soldiers killed to 75.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces today killed two Palestinian civilians during a military attack in the north of the occupied West Bank, an area where violence has increased following the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Two young people were killed by Israeli occupation bullets (…) during an attack in the city of Qalqilya,” the Palestinian National Authority Ministry of Health said.
The events took place this morning when Israeli forces opened fire on the vehicle in which the two Palestinians were traveling, wounding two other people, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
The Israeli military has not yet provided any information about these two deaths.
The occupied West Bank and Israel are experiencing the worst period of violence since the Second Intifada (2000-2005): 462 Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli forces since January.
The United Nations has reiterated that Israel – as a party to this war – has an obligation under international law to minimize harm to civilians and that when Israel orders their withdrawal, it must do so in a timely manner and provide them with safe routes and should offer a place where they can retreat. going, which does not happen in this case.
