Ukraine: kyiv forces advance in Kherson region, residents return to liberated areas

The BFMTV crews were able to visit the first liberated villages in the south of Ukraine and observe the advance of the Ukrainian army. The damage is numerous.

Kyiv forces advance in the south of the country. BFMTV crews were able to go to the site, Novovorontsovka, in Kherson oblast, and watch the advance of the Ukrainian army in the region. Exceptional images.

Uniforms, ammunition and reserves left by the Russians

It is through potholed dirt roads, under the echo of the bombs, that our journalists reach the newly liberated areas.

Ukrainian soldier of the “CARLSON” battalion, John participated with his brigade in this counteroffensive. Guide our team within 15 km of the front lines.

“We are reaching a Russian military position that we have seen recently,” he said.

“It’s a matter of time” before victory, for a Ukrainian soldier

In this region, the Russians plundered neighboring villages until recently. Uniforms, ammunition and canned goods were abandoned at the site, witnesses of the Russian setbacks.

“Morale (of the Russians) is very low,” says John.

“I think we won this war. In any case, it’s a matter of time. You see, they left everything behind, they don’t manage,” he said.

At the bend of a still mined road, the decomposing corpse of a Russian soldier lies on the ground.

“They didn’t even bother to bury their bodies. For the government, it’s just cannon fodder,” he said.

Some returning residents

In Kreschchenivka, still in the Kherson oblast, one of the towns liberated by the Ukrainian forces, the inhabitants try to resume the course of their lives, despite the risks that persist.

“Isn’t there a mine? Have you checked?” John cautiously asks a local resident.

Guena and Natalia have just found their house and see the extent of the damage.

“There is no electricity anymore, we have to go get running water from a nearby well. We haven’t even been able to charge our cell phones for two days,” she explains.

The town of Kreschchenivka is one of the last towns recaptured by the Ukrainian army. Although there is no more water or electricity, few have decided to return.
