A police operation against pedophilia crimes has led to the arrest of 80 men in France, of which 15 are in preventive detention and the rest under judicial control, it was announced this Saturday.
Among those detained are two teachers, an ambulance driver and a night guard at an institution for children with disabilities, public radio France Bleu reported.
The arrested men had previously been identified for sexual assault, pedophilia or use of pedophile content.
“Eighty is an important number, never seen before,” said Linda Kebbab, spokesperson for the police union Unité SGP Polisse-Force Ouvrière.
Depending on the union structure, three to four large-scale operations are carried out in France per year.
