The Russian Defense Ministry made the announcement on Saturday night. At least 11 people were killed and 15 others wounded in a shooting at a Russian military compound in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, in what authorities are calling “an attack” on Saturday.

“On October 15, at a training camp in the Western Military District, in the Belgorod region, two citizens of a CIS country carried out an attack,” the ministry said, referring to the Commonwealth of Independent States, an alliance of several former Soviets. republics.

Shooters down

According to the same ministry, “while conducting shooting training with people who had volunteered to participate in the special military operation (in Ukraine), the terrorists opened fire with automatic weapons on the members of the unit.”

“During the shooting, 11 people were fatally injured. Another fifteen suffered injuries of varying severity and were transferred to health facilities where they are receiving the necessary treatment. According to the ministry, “the two terrorists were killed during return fire.”

On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “partial” military mobilization in Russia to send soldiers to fight in Ukraine, following Russian army setbacks at the front.

In early October, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that more than 200,000 people had mobilized in Russia since this announcement.
