A collision between two metro trains in Beijing, due to snow that hit the Chinese capital, resulted in 515 injuries, including 102 with fractures, authorities said this Friday.
The accident occurred on Thursday evening in a mountainous area west of Beijing, on the surface of the Changping Line.
The smooth rails caused the train in front to brake automatically. A following train was on a descending route, skidded and was unable to brake in time, the municipal transport service said in a statement.

Medical staff, police and transport authorities rushed to the scene and all passengers were evacuated around 11 p.m. (3 p.m. in Lisbon), the same report said.
Officials said 25 passengers were under observation and 67 passengers remained hospitalized Friday morning.
The unusually heavy snow that started falling on Wednesday led to the suspension of some railway operations and the closure of schools.
Warnings remain in effect for icy roads, extreme cold and additional snowfall. The temperature is expected to drop to minus 11 degrees tonight. No deaths have been reported from the winter storms that hit much of northern China.
