Zelensky recognizes the complex situation, but does not believe that Ukraine is losing the war

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, acknowledged this Tuesday that the situation in the country is “complex”, but stressed that he does not consider that he is losing the war against Russia.

The Ukrainian head of state was responding to a question from the BBC that spoke about the lack of soldiers and the decline in international support.

Given this scenario, Zelensky acknowledged that the situation is “complex” and that the country has been severely punished, with infrastructure, economy and food supply suffering direct attacks or in cyberspace.

“We don’t control the air, we don’t have adequate ammunition, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t found a way out,” he argues.

Volodymyr Zelensky also explains that a victory for Ukraine means reconquering Crimea and all territories occupied by Russia, stressing that the country’s Constitution must be respected.

The leader of Ukraine, despite this, highlighted that the country managed to free itself from the blockade to which it was subjected, in an intervention in which he began by thanking the soldiers for the victory in the Black Sea.

The Black Sea is the area where the country exports most of its grain and Zelensky points out that the Russian fleet no longer has control over it, so the Ukrainian economy is not blocked.

Volodymyr Zelensky goes further and claims that Russia “has not achieved any results” this year, including reaching the borders of Donbas, praising the Armed Forces and the Ukrainian people.

“I trust that the United States will not disappoint us and that what was agreed will be fulfilled,” he reveals, adding that he is also confident that the country will receive the 50 billion euros from the European Union.

The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 of last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).

Ukraine’s Western allies have supplied weapons to kyiv and passed successive sanctions packages against Russian interests to try to diminish Moscow’s ability to finance the war effort.
