The Palace of Versailles, on the outskirts of Paris, was evacuated on Wednesday after a bomb threat. Nearly “two thousand visitors” were removed from the site “for security reasons”, according to Le Figaro.
The Palace of Versailles announced on social media that it will reopen as soon as the necessary ‘checks’ have been carried out.
“For security reasons, the Palace of Versailles is evacuating visitors and will reopen as soon as checks have been carried out,” reads the message shared by the palace on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

According to BFMTV, authorities reported the presence of “a possible suspicious package.”
The Palace of Versailles has been the target of bomb threats since October. In eight days, the site was the target of seven false alarms, Le Figaro recalls, noting that these actions are punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.
