The north of England and Scotland were the most affected regions, with a gust of 185 km/h having already been recorded in the Scottish mountains.
In the Shetland Islands, schools have not opened and almost the entire United Kingdom is under yellow alert, mainly due to the wind. There are records of damaged roofs, fallen trees and problems with the circulation of trains and also on several tracks.
Traffic was suspended ferries to and from the Scottish islands, an impact that is also being felt at some airports. British Airways alone canceled about 20 domestic and European flights.
